Honda engines have a reputation for going forever, and they earn it โ but only if you do two things. Change the oil on time, and when the car has a CVT, service it with the proper Honda fluid. That second one trips up more independent garages than anything else. Pour generic ATF into a Honda CVT to save a few rupees and you'll pay for it later. Honda Service Intervals
For most Hondas the routine is every 10,000 km or once a year, whichever comes first.

A Few Notes on Specific Honda Models
City and Amaze. The 1.5 i-VTEC with the CVT is a genuinely reliable pairing, as long as the CVT fluid gets changed when it should. Skip it and you invite judder, which is the complaint we hear most. The other thing that shows up with miles is worn engine mounts, which you'll feel as vibration.
Elevate. It's the newer SUV in the range, and there isn't much character to it yet โ correct diagnostics and on-time service are all it really asks for.
City e:HEV. This is the strong hybrid, an Atkinson-cycle 1.5 working with an e-CVT and a high-voltage battery. It needs servicing that understands the hybrid side of things, and plenty of independent workshops simply aren't set up for that. We are.
The older WR-V, Jazz, BR-V, Civic and CR-V. These are the out-of-warranty cars where two things count most: tracking down genuine parts, and giving you an honest diagnosis rather than an upsell. If yours is the older 1.5 i-DTEC diesel, keep on top of the injectors and the DPF.
Common Honda Problems, and What We Actually Do
CVT judder or slip at low speed on the City and Amaze. You'll feel a shudder pulling away, or a moment of hesitation. It's nearly always down to degraded or wrong CVT fluid, or wear from service that got skipped. We diagnose it properly and refill with the correct Honda fluid โ and to be blunt, generic ATF is what damages these boxes in the first place.
Weak AC on the City and Jazz. It usually starts with a dust-blocked condenser and a tired cabin filter, so we pressure-test before anyone reaches for a compressor.
Engine-mount vibration. An idle shake or a clunk as you pull away points to worn mounts, and we replace whichever ones have actually gone rather than the whole set.
A knock from the suspension on the Amaze and WR-V. That's the link rods and bushes giving way on rough roads, and we swap the worn part.
Power-window or electrical faults. Common enough on the older cars. We trace the fault and repair it, instead of blanket-replacing parts and hoping.
Rough idle or emission trouble on the older i-VTEC engines. Could be carbon, a sensor or the plugs. We read it on the scanner and fix the actual cause.
What Noida Driving Does to a Honda
Dust is the first thing that weakens your AC, and stop-go traffic is precisely where a tired CVT starts to judder. The summer heat leans on the battery, and on the e:HEV it leans on the hybrid system too.
